C is for Caterpillar

We are very excited to have a monarch caterpillar in our class. We know there are not many around this year so we are very thankful to Ashley for bringing one in.

Our caterpillar was very busy over the weekend making a chrysalis. We are learning to observe our caterpillar closely and describe any changes we see.

How many days do you think it will be until a beautiful butterfly hatches from the chrysalis?

Reminder - Moutere Hills Junior Swim Fun Day

A reminder that our Moutere Hills Junior Swim Fun Day is on Tuesday. Don't forget to pack your togs, towels goggles and sun hats.

Please also drop any car seats off outside our class.

We can't wait!

A is for apple

We have discovered the apples in our school garden are ripe. We have been busy picking and eating these during lunch time.

Olivia helped us to peel and chop the apples as well as make the topping for an apple crumble today. Mmmmmm it was delicious!

Barnaby Bear's Boysenberry Jam

Our class bear Barnaby was busy making boysenberry jam at Leo's house recently. What an adventure!

We decided the best way to taste this jam was to put in on some freshly baked scones (made by us on course). We all agreed what DELICIOUS jam it was. Thank you so much Leo and Barnaby. We enjoyed being taste testers for you.

Tryathlon Reminder

A reminder that our school tryathlon is on Friday. Dust that bike off, pump up the tyres and check the gears and brakes. Please also check your helmet fits correctly.

Buddies will be alongside our younger children to help provide support and encouragement during this fun filled event.

We can't wait to have you supporting us from the sidelines on Friday.

Ooey, Gooey Slime

Today, as a follow up activity to our Reading, we all became scientists and made some slime.

Like any true scientist we had to be ready to adapt and change when some of our experiments didn't go to plan. Some of our mixtures were runny, some were lumpy but we agreed that they were all ooey, gooey, slippery and slimy.

What a lot of fun we have with our learning.

Our 1st Week

We were all excited to start back at school this week.....and what a fabulous first couple of days we had!

We welcomed 5 new friends into our class. We know that Alex, Leo, Tommy, Marty and William are going to love their time here at Upper Moutere School.

We went fishing for clues around the school to introduce our new friends to the different areas both outside and inside our class. We had fun getting to know them by playing lots of games and we enjoyed a cool dip in our pool each afternoon.

At the end of next week we have our 1st school tryathlon. We all have a special job to do this weekend. We are going to dust off our bikes, check the brakes, gears and make sure our tyres are pumped up ready for Friday. We can't wait!

Our Star Baker Stella

Stella has been cooking up a storm again. This time Cinnamon Brioche Scrolls. Mmmmmmm, they look delicious Stella, our mouths are watering ...
